Happn Fake Profile Scam Forced Me to Spend $708 — App Needs to Step Up Safety
On November 4, I experienced a serious problem on the Happn app involving fake profiles. These fake accounts invite users to meet up and direct them to restaurants that either have no name or were newly created. I was invited to such a place at Selahaddin Pınar Aralığı Sokak 3/C, Mecidiyeköy, Istanbul—an establishment that is not even listed on Google. At this location, I was pressured into spending approximately $708 USD. The payment was made both in cash and by credit card.
I believe incidents like this happen frequently and follow the same pattern. After the incident, I contacted Happn customer service. They said they would investigate, but I’m not confident anything will come of it. As a Premium user, I expect my situation to be addressed, and I urge Happn to take immediate and effective action against these fake profiles so that others do not fall victim as well.
I am bringing this to the attention of the public and the authorities.
