Ford Focus Headlight Fogging Safety Issue Not Fixed

Ford Focus Headlight Fogging Safety Issue Not Fixed
March 7 11:59 PM30

I am the owner of a 2022 Ford Focus Sedan and my vehicle has a persistent headlight fogging issue. Whenever the weather is cold, the headlights fog up whether the vehicle is running or parked. This situation reduces my field of vision while driving and creates a serious safety risk that may cause an accident. I recently took my vehicle to the Ford ASF authorized service. The service stated that this situation is normal and no action was taken. However, I do not find it acceptable that a vehicle’s headlights, which directly affect driving safety, fog up in this way and that this is described as normal. In a possible accident caused by reduced visibility due to headlight fogging, I see Ford as responsible. I request that the headlight fogging problem in my vehicle be resolved under warranty in a permanent way, such as headlight replacement or another technical intervention, and that all necessary actions be taken to eliminate the safety risk. If Ford maintains the position that “there is no problem,” I also request a written statement clearly indicating that they accept responsibility in the event of any accident or negative situation caused by this issue.

Subject: Headlight interior water accumulation – request for replacement under warranty

In my 2022 model Ford Focus, there is heavy fogging and water buildup inside the headlight.

As can be seen in the attached photo, this situation exceeds normal condensation levels and there is permanent moisture and droplet formation inside the headlight.

The authorized service dismissed it as "normal" and took no action. However, this is clearly a manufacturing/seal issue.

I request that the defect be remedied under warranty and, if deemed necessary, that the headlight be replaced.

Otherwise, I inform you that I will file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board.

Dear Customer, Your feedback is of great importance to us. The request you submitted has been reviewed. The exterior lamps are designed with a ventilation system to reduce pressure increase and allow air circulation within the lamp. If the air is sufficiently cold due to humidity in the air, or if there is a large difference between interior and exterior temperature and humidity levels, this moisture can enter the lamp through the vents and cause condensation. When normal condensation occurs, a thin layer of fog may form on the inner side of the transparent plastic lenses in the coldest areas. When the lamp operates normally, this fog will gradually disappear and exit through the ventilation channels. The evaporation time (condensation, cleaning time) depends on the ambient humidity, the type of lamp bulb, and vehicle speed. Sincerely, Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.Ş.

If this is normal, I would appreciate it if you could share an official document via email that guarantees that the yellowing caused by fogging on my headlights is not an electrical issue.
