Family Locator stopped updating live location, how can I make it work again?

Live location usually stops updating when the app loses permission to access GPS, background activity, or mobile data.

Check that Location Services are enabled, set the app permission to “Allow all the time,” disable battery optimization, and make sure the phone is not in Low Power or Battery Saver mode.

Weak internet, outdated app versions, or restricted background refresh can also interrupt real-time tracking.

Restart both devices, update the Family Locator app, keep Wi-Fi or mobile data active, and confirm that Airplane Mode, VPNs, or mock location apps are turned off to restore live updates.
