I saw a flat rental advertisement on Facebook and contacted the person who posted it via the platform. This person introduced himself as a soldier and sent me a photo of his military ID along with photos of the flat. He gave the impression that he was the owner of the flat and then asked me to send a deposit to an IBAN registered in his own name, Serkan Gök**. At first, I clearly stated that I could not send a deposit without seeing the flat. However, later on, in an attempt to be persuaded, I sent a deposit of 5,000 TL on 15 February 2026 to a Ziraat Bank account with the name Serkan Gök**, and I have the receipt of this transaction. When we messaged yesterday evening again via WhatsApp, as soon as I wrote that I would not make any further payments without seeing the flat in person, this person deleted all messages on WhatsApp and blocked me. This behaviour clearly shows that his intention from the beginning was to defraud me. After noticing the situation, I immediately called Ziraat Bank and requested that the transfer be cancelled and my money returned, but I was told that they could not do anything at that stage. The person in question deceives people by using a military ID, introducing himself as a member of the Turkish Armed Forces, and giving the impression that he is acting under the credibility of this institution, which also damages the reputation of the TSK. I request that the 5,000 TL deposit I sent be refunded to me and that this person, whose name appears as Serkan Gök** in the Ziraat Bank account, be reported to and investigated by the relevant authorities so that he cannot continue to defraud other people in a similar manner through Facebook and WhatsApp.
