Europcar France Charged Without Notice 6 Months After My Booking Rental

I booked a rental car through Booking.com from Europcar France six months ago. At the time of rental, I was told that the deposit would be refunded. However, despite all this time passing, the deposit was never returned. What’s even more outrageous is that just yesterday—six months later—I noticed that a new charge of €101 was made to my credit card without any notification or explanation.

I never gave permission for this additional charge, and Booking.com has completely failed to protect my consumer rights. These companies should not be allowed to access a customer’s card after such a long time without clear communication and consent. This lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable.

I expect Booking.com to step in and take responsibility for this, as they facilitated the rental and should be safeguarding their users. I am now preparing to file a legal complaint. A company like Booking should not stand by silently while its users are charged arbitrarily by its partners. I demand a full investigation, a refund of the unauthorized charge, and an explanation as to why my rights were ignored. I urge others to think twice before trusting Booking or Europcar with their payment information.
