Booking.com and Europcar Fail to Honor $496 Paid SUV Rental at Amsterdam Airport

On April 9, I rented an automatic SUV from Europcar through Booking.com to pick up at Amsterdam Airport. Although I had confirmation emails sent by both Booking.com and Europcar with confirmation number 749729271, and had already paid $496 in advance using my credit card, the staff at the airport Europcar desk refused to hand over the vehicle, claiming my reservation did not appear in their system.

Despite sharing both the Booking.com and Europcar confirmation numbers and the corresponding emails with the staff, they offered no assistance whatsoever and failed to deliver the vehicle. As a result, I ended up paying for a vehicle I never received and a service I never utilized. Due to this ordeal, I was forced to rent a vehicle from another company at nearly double the price at the airport on the exact same day, causing me significant financial hardship.

Immediately following the incident, I called Booking.com customer service to report the issue, but I learned that they were also unable to reach the Europcar desk at the airport. Over the following days, I continued corresponding with Booking.com via email. Additionally, I initiated formal complaint procedures with my bank and the Consumer Arbitration Board. Booking.com stated yesterday that they would get back to me as soon as possible; however, as this process drags on, my hardship increases, and that response is simply not enough.

I demand a full refund of the $496 payment for this prepaid reservation that I was completely unable to use. I request that my grievance caused by the breakdown in communication between Booking.com and Europcar be resolved immediately, and that the necessary investigations and corrections be made to prevent similar situations from happening again.
