I Lost Money from My Card After Installing an Etsy App Store Integration

After installing an app from the Etsy App Store, I experienced what can only be described as a suspicious and unacceptable issue. Right after setting up the app for my Etsy store, I received what looked like a real order message. Thinking it was legitimate, I proceeded to process the sale. However, during the transaction, the app requested my card information under the pretense of processing a sale or completing a setup.
As soon as I entered my card details, money was withdrawn from my account — and I have absolutely no idea where that money went. There was no confirmation of a sale, no transaction record, no service provided in return. It just vanished. I tried again with a different app setup, and the same thing almost happened a second time — except this time I didn’t fall for it.
This experience feels like fraud disguised as a plugin or integration. Etsy needs to thoroughly vet the apps and services offered in its ecosystem. I’m demanding a full investigation into the source of this deduction and a refund of the money taken from my account. Etsy should take accountability and protect its sellers from predatory third-party applications operating on their platform.
