EDreams Car Rental Issue with International Driver's License and Refund Request

On August 7, 2024, at Olbia Airport in Italy, despite presenting an internationally valid driver's license to your supplier B-Rent, they claimed that my license was invalid under Italian law and refused to give me the car. There are two crucial points here: First, the license I presented is valid both nationally and internationally in my home country, Turkey.

This license, issued since January 1, 2016, is valid in 84 countries, including Italy. Indeed, I have rented cars in many European countries, including Italy, with this license and never faced any issues. When I called your customer service to report the situation and requested a refund of the rental fee, you said you would open a case regarding the matter and opened a file with reference number 02606435.

It is undoubtedly clear that the source of this problem is the B-Rent company. This situation is so evident that when I immediately approached other companies at Olbia Airport to rent a car with the same license, they confirmed that there was no issue with the license and that I could rent any car I wanted. In fact, on the same day, August 7, 2024, just one hour later, I rented a car from Avis with the same license without any problems.

Most recently, on February 24, 2024, through your company eDreams, with reservation number ES323347720, I rented a car in Spain (with Caddy by Europcar) between May 4-8, presenting the same license without any issues.

On August 14, 2024, you responded via email stating that my refund could not be processed and that the supplier could request an international document. I used the same contract you emphasized and rented a car in Spain through your company in May, presenting the same license without any issues.

It is unacceptable for a large supplier like your company to support and tolerate the excuses of a company that plays such cheap and small tricks (offering cars at low prices and then refusing to deliver the rented cars with various excuses at the time of delivery). Especially when my simple consumer right to a refund is so clear and obvious, your refusal to grant it shows the same cheap and simple attitude. I demand that you process my refund request – which has now become a matter of principle and honor, not just a money issue – otherwise, I will take legal action against you and your supplier.
