New DJI Neo 2 Drone Failed Within 24 Hours and Needs Replacement

On June 25, 2026, I purchased a DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo drone from Vatan Bilgisayar. The following day, on June 26, 2026, during my first flight, the device’s obstacle detection sensors failed to function properly. Because it did not detect the obstacle in front of it, the drone crashed, and immediately afterward the screen displayed the warning “downward vision sensor error.”

The cause of the crash was not user error on my part, but rather the failure of the device’s essential safety features, specifically the obstacle detection system and downward vision sensor. Therefore, I returned the product to Vatan Bilgisayar on June 26, 2026, less than 24 hours after purchase, in order to exercise my legal consumer rights.

The product was sent by the seller to the importer and authorized service provider, Karfo Karacasulu Dış Ticaret A.Ş. According to the authorized service’s quotation form dated July 15, 2026, with job number q720010059, they claimed that no accident record was found on the device and stated that repair was not possible due to alleged user error. They requested $264 for a replacement with a new product.

According to Article 10 of Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, defects that appear within six months from the date of delivery are presumed to have existed at the time of delivery, and in such cases, the burden of proving that the product was not defective belongs to the seller. Since this sensor failure occurred less than 24 hours after purchase, it constitutes a hidden defect caused by manufacturing or software issues, and neither the seller nor the service provider has proven with concrete evidence that the defect was caused by me.

The authorized service also claims that the downward vision sensor cannot be repaired and only offers a replacement option at an excessive cost. However, technical opinions I received from independent repair specialists in the industry clearly indicate that downward vision sensor issues can be repaired and resolved through component replacement. Despite this, excluding the repair option and forcing a high-cost replacement directly is against the principle of good faith and effectively limits my legal consumer rights.

For all of these reasons, I request that my DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo drone, which developed a hidden defect within the first day of purchase, be replaced free of charge with an identical defect-free product under Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, or that the full purchase price be refunded to me.
