How to start a video call:
Enter a private chat with a friend or join a voice channel on a server.
Click the camera icon — this should activate your camera and start the video call.
If the camera icon is inactive, make sure Discord has permission to use the camera.
What to do if the camera doesn’t work:
Check permissions:
On Windows: Start → Settings → Privacy → Camera → Allow apps to use the camera.
On Mac: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Camera → Allow Discord access.
Select the correct camera:
Discord → Settings (gear icon) → Voice & Video → Video Settings → choose the camera manually from the dropdown list → click Test Video.
Restart or reinstall Discord. Updates or app errors can sometimes break the video feed.
Close other apps using the camera (Zoom, OBS, etc.), since the camera cannot be shared by multiple programs at once.
Check camera drivers, especially for external or USB devices.
❗ If Discord still doesn’t show video from your camera — 👉 don’t ignore the issue, report it on Xolvie 👈.
This will help you get a quicker solution and protect other users from facing the same problem.
