Dell Vostro 3520 Hinge Broke While Opening the Lid

May 28 9:00 PM

I own a Dell Vostro 3520 Core laptop, and while simply opening the lid one day, the hinge trim suddenly popped out of place. From that moment on, the lid would no longer open at all. The problem did not develop gradually—it happened all at once. I am now afraid to force the lid open because I do not want to damage the display, which means I can no longer use my laptop normally. After researching the issue, I found that many other users have reported similar hinge failures, making it appear to be a recurring problem with this model.

I purchased the laptop through Amazon in September 2024. Although it was sold with a two-year warranty, Dell's system incorrectly shows that my warranty expires in 2025. I requested that the warranty information be corrected and that the hinge be repaired under warranty. Even though I have the warranty certificate that came with the laptop, Dell insists on an original invoice. The seller never provided an invoice, but I do have my Amazon order confirmation, purchase records, and order history. Dell has refused to accept these documents and states that only an invoice is considered valid proof of purchase.

I also contacted Dell customer support and explained the situation in detail, but I was repeatedly told that the warranty certificate was not sufficient and that an invoice was mandatory. I use this laptop in Pazar, Rize, and I believe the warranty should still be valid. I respectfully request that Dell correct the inaccurate warranty expiration date, accept my Amazon purchase records and warranty certificate as proof of purchase, and repair the hinge failure under warranty without requiring an invoice that was never provided to me.
