Columbia Geoterra OutDry Boots Leaked Water on First Use

On March 5, 2026, I purchased a pair of Columbia Geoterra OutDry Men's Tall Boots from The Moose Bay website. I specifically chose this model because it was advertised and sold as a waterproof boot.

However, during the very first use, the left boot allowed water to enter. Since the product was brand new and it was my first time wearing it, I wanted to be absolutely certain that the issue was not caused by unusual conditions. I tested the boots a second time and experienced the exact same problem. The left boot once again leaked water, confirming that the waterproof feature was not functioning as promised.

As a result, I submitted the product for inspection. The review was conducted under case number TMB90094. Following the inspection, I was informed that the issue was not caused by the manufacturer and the product was returned to me without any repair, replacement, or other resolution.

I find this conclusion extremely difficult to accept. A customer would not send a newly purchased waterproof boot for inspection without a legitimate reason. The primary reason I chose this product was its advertised waterproof capability, and the product failed to deliver that feature from the very first use. Receiving a response that the issue is "not manufacturer-related" despite such a clear and easily verifiable defect was both disappointing and frustrating.

Prior to this experience, I had already heard similar complaints regarding product inspections and warranty evaluations involving this brand. Unfortunately, the outcome of my own case has reinforced my concern that legitimate product defects are not always handled fairly. Considering the premium price of this product, I expected Columbia to stand behind the quality and performance of its merchandise.

Because the Columbia Geoterra OutDry Men's Tall Boots failed to provide the waterproof protection that was promised and advertised, I request that the product be replaced with a new pair. I believe this is a reasonable resolution for a product that did not perform as intended from the very first use.
