Garanti BBVA Bonus Card Billed $240 for Unauthorized Anthropic Claude Subscription
On August 10, 2026, I discovered an unauthorized transaction of $240 on my Garanti BBVA Bonus credit card, processed under the merchant description "anthropıc* claude sub." I have no active memberships or subscriptions with this merchant, and this transaction was executed entirely without my knowledge, consent, or authorization.
Upon detecting this fraudulent charge, I immediately contacted Garanti BBVA customer service to permanently block the compromised card and formally initiate a chargeback dispute. I was informed by the representative that the investigation process could take up to 60 days to conclude with an approval or rejection.
While I have fulfilled all my customer obligations by promptly reporting the security breach, leaving a consumer financially liable for an unverified, unauthorized international transaction for up to two months places an unfair and unreasonable burden on the account holder.
I demand that Garanti BBVA expedite this fraud investigation immediately, issue a provisional credit or full refund of the $240 to my account balance without waiting for the full 60-day window to expire, and provide a formal written update regarding how this unauthorized international transaction bypassed basic card security protocols.
