Citibank SWIFT Transfer Error – AUD Converted to TL, Seeking Exchange Rate Difference

Citibank served as the intermediary for an international SWIFT transfer from Australia to my Turkish AUD account, intended to be directly deposited in AUD. However, Citibank converted the amount—8000 AUD—into TL and deposited it into my TL retirement account without my consent. The intermediary bank confirmed in their response to my complaint that Citibank had processed the transfer in TL.
I am now facing a significant financial loss due to this exchange rate discrepancy, as the funds were intended for urgent health-related expenses. I request immediate reimbursement of the exchange rate difference to my account. I have been left waiting since June 27, 2024, with no response from Citibank’s customer service. If the exchange rate difference is not refunded, I will escalate my complaint to the Banks Association Consumer Arbitration Committee, then to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, and finally file a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor.
