Unauthorized OpenAI Billing Triggers Credit Card Dispute and Refund Request
On 04/23/2026, between 2:59 PM and 3:06 PM, charges using the company name "OpenAI" were made to my Ziraat Bank credit card seven times in a row, one per minute, each for $12 USD, totaling $84 USD, without my permission or approval. These transactions are not mine, and no approval was obtained from me for them.
I only have one membership account with OpenAI, but I don't have any subscription or recurring payment instruction set up. Despite this, because these charges kept hitting my account back-to-back within such a short period, as soon as I noticed the transactions, at around 3:00 PM, I closed my credit card — otherwise, I believe these charges could have kept going.
On April 27, I filed a dispute with Ziraat Bank over these charges, but I haven't separately filed a report with OpenAI. I'm requesting that an investigation be conducted into who made these charges, for what purpose, and how they were able to do so, that these unauthorized charges be canceled and refunded to me, and that my situation be resolved.
