The general rule in skincare is to apply products by texture, from the lightest to the richest. Serums are lighter, less dense, and contain a higher concentration of active ingredients than creams, so the correct order matters.
• Apply the Caudalie serum first to cleansed and toned skin. It absorbs quickly and delivers active ingredients deeper into the skin.
• After the serum has fully absorbed, apply a moisturizing or nourishing cream. The cream forms a protective layer, helps lock in moisture, and softens the effect of the serum’s actives.
Applying a serum after a cream can prevent active ingredients from penetrating properly. This reduces effectiveness and may cause uneven action on the skin.
Additional guidelines:
• When using more than one serum, apply the lightest texture first or the one addressing the main concern (for example, hydration before antioxidants).
• If a serum contains potentially irritating actives such as acids or retinol, and the cream from another brand is also active, consider possible interactions. In these cases, alternating products or using them at different times of day is recommended.
