Carjet Fails to Warn Me About Required International Driving Permit
On June 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM, I went to pick up my car rental reservation, booked through Carjet, from the Bari (Italy) office, but I wasn't able to take possession of the vehicle. The local rental company asked for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to my national driver's license, and since I didn't have that document with me, they refused to hand over the car.
Despite having rented cars in Italy many times before, I've never once been asked for an IDP by any company — my national driver's license has always been sufficient. When I made the reservation through Carjet, I also didn't see any clear, prominent notice stating that this document was required. As a result, even though I paid the full €470 through the Carjet platform, I was never able to actually use the vehicle, and my reservation ended up going to waste.
My reservation number is CJT-209375400. Since I couldn't find an email address to contact Carjet directly, I had to file this complaint here instead. Since I was never able to pick up the vehicle or use the service at all, I'm requesting a full refund of the €470 I paid.
