CarGurus Tricked Me Into Buying a Damaged Car With a Misleading Listing

April 25, 2025 9:39 AM54

Seeing what appeared like a terrific offer from a dealer claiming the car was in "excellent condition with no previous damage," I bought a car via CarGurus. Given that I reside a few hours away, I planned delivery based on the listing. The car showed obvious scrapes, a damaged bumper, and dashboard warning lights when it arrived. I got in touch the dealer right away, and they promised to fix the problems; but, they stopped answering after weeks of back and forth. My capacity to act quickly was delayed by just returning from an international work trip. My last hope was the financing source; but, I had no protection left since I paid off the loan early to save interest. To be honest, I cannot suggest CarGurus. Lists sometimes don't represent reality, and there's no obvious mechanism for making traders answerable.
