Allegiant Air Cancelation Policy - Hidden Fees And Restrictions

I bought a ticket with Allegiant Air for a flight from ALB to BNA on March 27th. I had been thinking about visiting my family for a week. Unfortunately, just before the flight, my girlfriend experienced a small mishap and had to have surgery on her foot. I really didn't want to leave her like that. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that I could reschedule, but there would be a fee involved. However, the price difference between rescheduling and purchasing a new ticket was minimal. Upon requesting a cancellation, I was informed that it was not feasible given the affordable fare and the fact that there was less than 48 hours remaining until the flight. They offered a refund of only $15. Their cancellation policy is absolutely awful.
