I Face Discrimination with Air Arabia for Charging Me a Wheelchair Fee as a Disabled Passenger
I booked a flight with Air Arabia from Sharjah to Sabiha Gökçen and made a request for wheelchair assistance because I am a person with a disability. To my shock, I was told I had to pay 100 AED (around ₺1000) just to use a wheelchair at the airport. This is absolutely unacceptable. In all my previous travels, wheelchair service has always been provided free of charge as a basic accessibility right—not as an extra fee.
I have never encountered any airline demanding payment for such an essential service. I feel discriminated against and deeply disrespected by Air Arabia’s policy. As a disabled passenger, I should not have to fight or pay extra just to receive equal treatment.
Because of this experience, I will no longer consider flying with Air Arabia. I urge the airline to review this unjust policy and offer an immediate refund for the ₺1000 fee. I also call on Air Arabia to ensure free wheelchair access for all future passengers with disabilities.
