Agoda Charged Extra After Booking – I Want an Explanation & Refund


On August 2nd, I made a reservation through Agoda for a stay at Lanta Lapaya Resort, Koh Lanta, Thailand, from September 2nd to 9th. The booking was advertised with a “Best Price Guarantee.” However, at the final payment stage, I noticed that—despite not requesting any additional services—an amount labeled as “Extra Charges” was applied, which was several times higher than the actual accommodation cost. Unfortunately, I realized this only after the payment was processed, and the charge was made to my card without 3D Secure verification. This situation is highly misleading and appears to be a deceptive practice, as the additional charges were neither requested by me nor clearly disclosed prior to payment. I believe this constitutes a violation of fair trade and consumer protection principles.
