WMF Coffee Maker Smells Like Plastic, Service Says "It Works"!

2

On November 20, 2025, the WMF KITCHENminis® Filter Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe, which I purchased from an authorized dealer of Groupe SEB İstanbul Ev Aletleri Tic. A.Ş., began to give the coffee a pronounced plastic taste and odor after approximately 10 months of use. I suspect that the device is overheating and, due to this, it poses a direct risk to our health. Because of this problem, I applied to the Angora Teknik (Yaşamkent) branch in Ankara, which I was informed by Groupe SEB on October 14, 2026 was an authorized service point. Although the service staff acknowledged that there was an odor in the device, they returned the product to me without taking any action, with the unreasonable justification that “there is an odor in the machine, but there is no problem with its operation.” Afterwards, when I contacted WMF / Groupe SEB customer service by phone, instead of offering a solution, they told me there was nothing they could do regarding the plastic odor and redirected me to another service. It is unacceptable that an electrical household appliance which comes into direct contact with food and generates heat should emit a plastic odor that may be harmful to health, and that the brand’s representatives trivialize this by saying that there is “no problem with its operation.” As a consumer, in order to ensure accountability for this defective and health‑endangering product, I have already filed official applications with the Consumer Arbitration Committee and CİMER. I am sharing both the problem I experienced with the WMF KITCHENminis® Filter Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe and the irresponsible attitude of the brand with the public via Xolvie. Within the framework of my legal rights, I request that my grievance be resolved by replacing the defective product with a new one or, alternatively, by refunding the product price.
