I Face a Blackmail Threat on WhatsApp From Indonesian Number Sharing My Personal Data
On October 5, 2025, at 12:12 AM, I received a WhatsApp message from an Indonesian number: +62 859-2308-7249. The message contained personal information belonging to both me and my family members, including Turkish ID numbers, phone numbers, and home addresses. The sender demanded that I send an inappropriate photo and threatened to expose my personal data if I refused.
Immediately after the incident, I went to the police station to file a report, but no action was taken. I then blocked the number on WhatsApp. However, today a new group chat was created including me, my brother, and my mother, though no messages have been sent in the group so far.
I am deeply concerned about this situation and fear for the safety of my personal information. I am experiencing significant distress due to this privacy breach. I urge the authorities and WhatsApp to take immediate action to protect my personal data and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
