Western Union Used an Unfair Exchange Rate on My Transfer

June 19 12:28 PM

On June 18, 2026, at around 10:30 a.m., a friend sent me a €250 transfer through Western Union. When I picked up the money at a Western Union agent in Kızılay, Ankara, I was informed that the transfer had been converted into local currency using an exchange rate of 51.28 per euro, and I received approximately $275. At the same time, the market exchange rate was around 53.47 per euro.

Because of the difference in exchange rates, I suffered a significant currency exchange loss. For this transaction, with MTCN number 9530201521, I request that Western Union review the exchange rate that was applied and reimburse the exchange rate difference based on the current applicable rate so my financial loss can be corrected.
