Western Union Same-Day Transfer Delayed Despite Verification
On June 23, 2026, at 11:29:04 a.m., I used the QNB Finansbank mobile banking app to send money to my 72-year-old father through Western Union while he was in Bulgaria on personal business. Even though the service clearly stated that the transfer would be completed the same day, the transaction was immediately placed on hold, and my father never received the money.
After waiting for hours, I had to call Western Union three separate times. Only after repeatedly asking for an explanation was I told that the transfer had been flagged for review because the amount exceeded €1,000 and that identity verification was required. I sent the requested copies of my identification to the email address they provided at 1:38 p.m. Despite that, several more hours passed and the transfer was still not completed. The only response I received was that the appropriate team would review the documents within 24 hours and approve the transaction if everything was acceptable.
My elderly father is alone in a foreign country and urgently needs access to cash. Considering that the transaction was advertised as a same-day transfer, I do not believe this lengthy and uncertain delay is acceptable. I request that this transfer be approved immediately without any further delays so my father can receive the funds, and I also want a clear explanation of why this process has been handled this way.
