WeChat Sent Me a Verification Code I Did Not Request

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at around 11:00 AM, I received a verification SMS on my phone number for a WeChat registration. I do not use the WeChat app and did not request to register for an account. As soon as I saw the verification code, I deleted the message.

I believe someone attempted to register for WeChat using my phone number without my knowledge or consent. This phone number belongs to me, and I accept no responsibility whatsoever for any account that has been created or attempted to be created on WeChat using my number.

I request that the necessary security measures be taken to prevent my phone number from being used without my consent, that any accounts created or attempted to be created using my number be investigated and closed if necessary, and that steps be taken to prevent anyone from making another unauthorized attempt using my phone number in the future.
