UPS Held My Package from Ukraine and Made Retrieval Hard
I shipped my belongings from Ukraine. UPS told me that since it was an express shipment, I had to come and pick it up myself—otherwise, the items would be considered abandoned and given to them. They even act like customs officers, putting people in difficult situations. Once they realized the items were second-hand and personal, their attitude changed because they couldn’t charge extra fees. Now, for an item worth €30, I’m being told I need to buy a plane ticket for someone else to enter and exit the country, and then pay ₺800 for a name change. If they had simply handed the package over to customs, none of this would be an issue, but they’re holding it themselves. The shipping cost to Turkey was €44, yet they are now asking for €165 just to clear it and another €165 to send it back—totaling €350 for the return of a €44 shipment. I am very upset by this and plan to share the situation on my social media accounts. I believe a boycott of UPS should be initiated.
