Total Contaminated Fuel Issue & Unresolved Analysis Results

During the night of July 29-30, 2023, I refueled my vehicle by purchasing 1,820 TL worth of Euro Diesel fuel from the Bursapet Total fuel station located in Edremit, Balıkesir. This refueling took place exactly at midnight on July 30, 2023. However, on July 31, 2023, around midnight in Ayvacık, Çanakkale, my vehicle's engine suddenly failed, leaving me stranded on the road. I've owned this vehicle for approximately 12 years, having purchased it new, and I've never encountered such an issue before. after experiencing the engine failure, I arranged for my vehicle to be towed to the Yağcı Otomotiv Volkswagen authorized service center in Edremit, Balıkesir. Upon inspection, it was determined that the 4th cylinder injector was malfunctioning due to fuel contamination. The diagnosis revealed that dirt from the fuel had caused the injector to malfunction, leading to a repair cost of 17,000 TL. following this incident, I reached out to Total customer service to lodge a complaint. Two days later, their technical personnel collected fuel samples from both my vehicle and the fuel station where I had purchased the fuel. Meanwhile, I attempted to mitigate the effects of the contaminated fuel by using additives in my vehicle's fuel tank. I incurred a service fee of 1,200 TL at the authorized service center and spent an additional 350 TL on the additives. Unfortunately, my vehicle's fuel consumption began to rise drastically, reaching an unprecedented rate of 14-15 liters per 100 kilometers. I was eagerly awaiting the results of the fuel samples taken, which were verbally communicated to me a week later. According to these verbal results, there were no issues found in the fuel samples taken from the station or my vehicle. It's important to note that the additives I used in my vehicle weren't reflected in the analysis results. During this communication, I was assured that the detailed analysis results would be sent to me via email. Regrettably, despite this assurance, I have yet to receive the promised analysis results. This experience has left me with a sense of frustration and disappointment, especially considering the financial and operational implications of this situation. I sincerely hope that this matter can be addressed promptly and that the analysis results will be provided as promised.
