The rear motor on my Tesla Model Y failed and was replaced under warranty. Following the motor replacement, I was informed that the vehicle registration also needed to be updated, and in order to complete the official paperwork, I was asked to provide a notarized power of attorney. I went to a notary on April 21, 2026, and paid $47 to have the document prepared.
When I requested that Tesla reimburse this notary fee, my request — submitted both via email and through my service advisor — was denied. The motor failure and the need for a replacement were entirely Tesla's responsibility, yet on top of the time and travel costs I already incurred, I was also left to cover the notary expense out of my own pocket, which I do not find fair.
I am requesting that Tesla reimburse the $47 notary fee I was forced to pay as a direct result of a warranty repair caused by Tesla, and that this grievance be properly addressed.
