Skoda Wants $354 to Fix Turn Signal on Well-Maintained Karoq
Approximately 1 month ago, a left front turn signal malfunction occurred in my 2023 model Skoda Karoq, which I purchased brand new in January 2024. The vehicle started giving a persistent warning on the instrument panel, and the left front turn signal stopped working entirely.
My vehicle has only ever been taken to the authorized service center up to this point, and all of its periodic maintenance has likewise been done at the authorized service center. The vehicle has never been in an accident, has never taken an impact, and has had no external electrical or physical intervention performed on it.
At the authorized service center I went to about this problem, I was told that a complete headlight assembly replacement would be needed to fix the malfunction. Initially, a fee of around $579 was requested; later, I was told this figure was a promotional/discounted price and that the job could be done for $354. I was also told that this amount was already a reduced, goodwill price. Despite this, I was informed that this malfunction would be handled neither under warranty nor fully within a goodwill warranty framework.
Without any user error, accident, or external intervention — and in a vehicle this new, where all maintenance and servicing has been done exclusively at the authorized service center — I absolutely refuse to accept having the entire cost of a malfunctioning turn signal system, one of the safety components, placed entirely on me. If a complete headlight replacement is being proposed as the solution, it's clear that this is a part- or manufacturing-related problem rather than something user-caused, and for that reason, I don't believe any fee should be charged at all.
I trusted in quality and customer satisfaction when I chose the Skoda brand. However, the approach I've encountered during this process has left me seriously disappointed. Even though my legal warranty period ended in January, taking into account the vehicle's age, mileage, and the fact that its maintenance has been done regularly at the authorized service center, I am requesting that Skoda Turkey step in under its goodwill warranty, that the headlight and turn signal malfunction be resolved completely free of charge — including both parts and labor — and that no fee whatsoever be charged for this repair.
Otherwise, I would like to state that I will pursue my rights fully through the Consumer Arbitration Committee, CİMER, and all other relevant legal authorities.
