Through the calories burned, exercise produces a "calorie deficit." Noom returns half of the calories burned in a specific workout to your daily total, which you can (but are not required) eat. For instance, your calorie goal will rise by 50 calories if you log a workout and say you expended 100 calories. Studies have shown that dieters often overcompensate for the calories burned in an exercise by overeating, therefore compromising their weight reduction path. This is why Noom advises adding half of that number back.
Walking burns calories, hence your weight reduction zone will also depend on your step count! This is why Noom adds the half of the calories you burned while walking to the daily calorie goal.
