JW Marriott Asya Restaurant Staff Made Us Feel Unwelcome

On the evening of September 4, 2026, at around 10:00 PM, we visited the Asya Restaurant at JW Marriott Hotel Istanbul Marmara Sea to host business guests we work with. My intention was to treat my guests to an elegant, high-quality dining experience at a location close to my home. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite.

In general, we felt that the restaurant staff were unmotivated and acted as though they were reluctantly serving us. They were particularly unhelpful when it came to serving coffee and approached us with an attitude that made it seem as though they did not want to provide the service. My guests were uncomfortable with the way they were treated and even said that they wanted to leave, which put us in an extremely difficult and embarrassing position.

At around 10:40 PM, we were told that the kitchen was already closed. The way this was communicated, as well as the timing, further worsened the experience in front of my guests. We were also surprised that water was not served with the coffee, something we are accustomed to receiving at many other establishments. This further affected our perception of the overall service quality.

Having this kind of experience at a restaurant inside an upscale hotel such as JW Marriott was extremely disappointing, and I was embarrassed in front of my guests. I expect the hotel to take this matter seriously and make the necessary improvements regarding staff training, guest satisfaction, and service standards. Because of this negative experience, I cannot recommend the restaurant to anyone.
