Lufthansa Ignores Claims for Missing HP Laptop, Dyson Styler, and Nintendo Device
On September 5, 2026, I completed my Lufthansa flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Istanbul along with my young child. Upon arriving in Istanbul, I was told at baggage claim that one of my suitcases had remained in Frankfurt and would be delivered to my home the following day. Inside this suitcase were my HP computer, my Dyson hair styler, my child’s Nintendo device, and valuable cosmetics. When the suitcase was delivered the next day, I found that all of these valuable items were missing.
My other suitcase arrived completely destroyed. Lufthansa officials at Celebi in Istanbul Airport drafted a report and assured me that the cost of this suitcase would be reimbursed by Lufthansa. I was forced to deal with these procedures at the airport late at night for about 4 hours alongside my young child. The transfer vehicle that came to pick me up charged an extra $120 due to the extended wait time, and I had to take a picture of the suitcase and throw it in the trash. My baggage report number is ISTLIY34015.
Following everything I experienced, I sent an email to Lufthansa. The response I received stated that I should have the suitcase repaired and that they would cover the repair costs, but no repairable suitcase remains. This approach from a large enterprise company left me in severe financial and emotional hardship. I have been dealing with this issue since September 7, and no satisfactory solution has been offered.
I demand the complete reimbursement of approximately $200 for my destroyed suitcase, the additional $120 transfer fee I was forced to pay, and the items totaling approximately $350 in value that went missing from my delayed suitcase. Due to the distress I suffered, my trust in Lufthansa has been completely shattered, and I do not plan to choose them for my international flights in the future. I want to state that if my financial damages are not compensated as soon as possible, I will pursue legal remedies.
