LiveCareer.co.uk Misled Me With Its “Free CV Maker” Claim
On August 31, 2026, I started creating a CV through LiveCareer.co.uk because I trusted the “Free CV Maker” claim displayed on the website. Throughout the entire CV creation process, the website did not provide any clear information or warning that I would have to pay for the service.
After spending a significant amount of time creating my CV and reaching the final step, I was presented with a payment screen stating that I had to pay $2 for 14 days of access in order to access the CV I had created. In other words, the website presents the service as free and encourages users to start creating a CV, but only reveals the payment requirement after they have invested significant time and reached the final stage.
I consider this approach misleading and deceptive because the cost is not clearly disclosed at the beginning of the process. If the CV creation service requires payment, users should be informed of this clearly and prominently before they spend time creating their CV.
I request that LiveCareer.co.uk clearly disclose any fees associated with its services from the beginning of the CV creation process, remove the “Free” or “Free CV Maker” wording if the service is not actually free, and provide users with transparent information about all costs before they begin creating a CV.
I also ask LiveCareer.co.uk to stop using marketing practices that may mislead users into believing that a service is free when payment is ultimately required to access the completed CV.
