I Face Water Damage On My Honor Magic 7 Pro Despite IP68/IP69 Rating
On 08.09.2025, I experienced a serious issue with my Honor Magic 7 Pro smartphone. I trusted the IP68 and IP69 water resistance certifications and used the device in a swimming pool for only 5 minutes. Despite this, my phone was damaged due to liquid contact and was excluded from warranty coverage, even though it still has over one year of valid warranty remaining.
I submitted the device to the KVK technical service center in Bakırköy, Istanbul, but I was shocked when they demanded an extremely high repair fee of ₺48,314. This situation is unacceptable, as the device was marketed as water-resistant. The fact that Honor’s customer service provided no solution, and that the repair process is handled through a third-party contractor with limited knowledge of Honor devices, has only deepened my frustration.
I request that Honor repair my device free of charge under warranty, replace it with a new unit, or refund the full purchase price. I expect this issue to be resolved quickly and fairly, as I should not have to bear the cost of a failure that contradicts the advertised IP certifications.
