On August 31, 2025, around 4:00 p.m., I experienced an upsetting situation at an H&M store. I am a cancer patient and hold a 75% adult disability card. At the checkout, I showed my card to the cashier and politely asked for priority service. However, the employee looked at my card and said they couldn’t help me, suggesting instead that I ask other customers in line for permission to go ahead.
The employee could have simply said, “This customer has priority,” without making me feel uncomfortable. I was shopping with my son that day, and it was very hurtful to be asked to explain my condition and request permission from strangers in front of him. This incident can also be verified through security camera footage at the store.
I felt that the employee treated the situation as something trivial and unimportant. The embarrassment I was made to feel cannot be justified or undone. I also reported the issue to H&M customer service, who apologized and said they would forward it to the relevant department. I only want confirmation that the necessary warnings and training have been issued so that no one else has to experience what I did. No customer with a disability card should ever have to feel the same sense of humiliation I felt that day.
