Dyson V15 Detect Carpet Head Broke After Warranty

I purchased a Dyson V15 Detect from the Dyson store in İzmir, Türkiye. Over the past two years, my user experience has been extremely disappointing due to the product’s lack of durability and Dyson’s approach to repairs and spare parts. Within just six months of use, the motor repeatedly stopped working several times during each use. We spent nearly six months trying to capture this issue on video so it could be properly documented and proven. Within the first year, we were finally able to document the problem and send the device to the service center.

The service replaced the entire body and motor but did not replace the filter. Instead, they reattached the old filter to the new body and noted on the service form that it was “slightly damaged and needs to be replaced.” This felt unnecessarily stingy on Dyson’s part for such a basic and essential component. After the warranty expired, around the 25th month, the wheel on the carpet head broke. I was told that the only option was to purchase a completely new carpet head. An independent repair technician told me that he sees this issue very frequently with Dyson products and that they are intentionally designed without repair options.

Additionally, the dustbin pin has become loose, and now the dustbin fully disconnects every time we empty it. The small Motorhead—which we use the most because we have cats—has also lost significant performance. Its effectiveness depends almost entirely on a thin velvet strip that collects cat hair, but this strip wears out quickly because it constantly rubs against the sofa. We purchased replacement velvet strips from Temu, but it is nearly impossible to replace the strip without completely dismantling the head, which we were afraid to do. As a result, the head has lost approximately 70% of its performance when it comes to picking up cat hair.

Dyson does not offer repairs for small components like these and instead pushes customers to buy entirely new heads and parts at very high prices, even though these components are mostly simple plastic without advanced technology. This creates the impression that Dyson deliberately designs parts to be unrepairable in order to force customers into expensive replacements, while significant resources appear to be spent on influencer marketing rather than product longevity and repairability. I am experiencing multiple serious issues with a 2-year-old device that is marketed as premium and long-lasting. This situation has even pushed me to use counterfeit parts, since Dyson does not provide reasonable repair solutions for small components. I request that Dyson provide a free replacement for the dustbin and carpet head, and a free repair of the velvet strip on the small Motorhead.
