I was shocked to find inappropriate content in Duolingo’s language learning program while my child was using it. A lesson displayed an image involving homosexuality with two men and a sentence that read, “My husband is a teacher.” This kind of imagery is highly unsuitable for an educational platform aimed at children.
When my child saw the image, they asked, "How am I supposed to know which one is the teacher?" Upon reviewing the lesson myself, I was appalled to see such content in a language-learning app. This is a serious oversight on Duolingo’s part and raises questions about the appropriateness of its educational materials.
I demand an immediate cancellation of my subscription. Such content has no place in a child-focused learning environment, and I urge Duolingo to take swift action to review and remove unsuitable materials. Parents need to trust the platforms their children use, and this incident has completely eroded my confidence in Duolingo.
