Chamspy Auto-Renew Subscription Caused a Billing Dispute
On the night of April 4, at around 11:00 p.m., I signed in to the Chamspy website using my email address s*******@fengnu.com** and purchased what I believed was a one-time phone number lookup for approximately $0.
After completing the payment, I discovered that my purchase had automatically been converted into a monthly subscription. I was shown a message stating that if I did not cancel within one day, the monthly subscription would begin.
Before even one full day had passed, at around 5:00 p.m. on April 5, I submitted a cancellation request through the website's support section and also sent an email requesting that my subscription be canceled. Despite my timely request, Chamspy did not cancel my subscription or provide any meaningful response.
My account was charged the $0 fee twice, and I later noticed that Chamspy also attempted to charge more than $43 from my account. Fortunately, the transaction failed because I did not have enough funds available. Even so, this unauthorized attempt to charge such a large amount created a serious loss of trust.
After this incident, my bank advised me to close my account for security reasons, and I was forced to do so. I request that my Chamspy subscription be canceled immediately and permanently. I also believe that automatically enrolling users into recurring subscriptions without clear and transparent disclosure puts other customers at risk of experiencing the same problem.
