About 2 months ago, I noticed that the photo albums I had created in my gallery were missing their contents. However, the photos in the "Recents" album were still there; only the albums I had manually created were gone. On the same day, I realized that all the photos I had taken between March 4, 2024, and July 13, 2024, had disappeared completely. Strangely, while the photos from this period were gone, photos I had taken on August 9, 2021, somehow appeared in that same timeframe. My gallery now looks like this: March 4, 2024 - August 9, 2021 - July 13, 2024. This pattern is completely abnormal. I am absolutely certain that I did not delete these photos myself, nor would I ever intentionally do so. During that period, both a close friend and my grandfather passed away, and I would never risk losing the last photos I had with them. If these photos had been deleted normally, they should have appeared in the "Recently Deleted" folder, but they never showed up there. Additionally, before this issue occurred, I had around 20-25 GB of free space on my phone. After my photos disappeared, I suddenly had 143 GB of free space. This indicates that other data may also be missing, as 3 months’ worth of photos would not take up that much space. I immediately contacted Apple Support to report this issue, explaining that it was not caused by me and was clearly a system error. The first support representative I spoke to followed the standard procedure and pressed the “Recover” button, but my data did not return. I contacted support 2-3 more times after that, but each time, they simply instructed me to check the “Recently Deleted” folder or pressed the "recovery" button again, without offering any further assistance. My photos were synced with iCloud, and I am certain of this. The data loss occurred through iCloud. One support representative mentioned that if there was insufficient storage on iCloud, Apple could delete their users data. What kind of company deletes users’ data without their consent? I have been paying monthly for iCloud storage, trusting that my data would be safe, ONLY to have my most valuable data lost?? Apple Support has been irresponsible and far from solution-oriented. After trying one button and seeing it didn’t work, they simply said, “We’ve escalated this to a higher team; they will get back to you,” yet I have never received any follow-up. I expect a much more professional approach and a resolution to this issue.
