Apple Charged $20 for BeautyPlus Despite a 3-Day Free Trial

I accepted BeautyPlus’s three-day free trial offer through the Apple App Store. The offer clearly stated “3 days free, then $20/year.” I started the trial on September 19, 2026, and canceled the subscription through the app on September 21, 2026, before the trial period ended. Despite this, $20 was charged to my account on September 19, 2026, meaning I was charged the annual subscription fee without actually receiving the promised free trial period.

The transaction appears under document number 85619513**** linked to my Apple ID. I submitted a refund request through the Apple App Store, but my request was rejected with the response that the charge was “not eligible for a refund.” I also contacted BeautyPlus support, and they told me that the refund could only be handled through the Apple App Store because Apple manages the payment process. Since the subscription was purchased directly through the App Store rather than through BeautyPlus itself, they stated that Apple has the authority to handle the refund.

I believe this charge is unfair because I canceled the subscription during the three-day free trial period, and the $20 charge was made contrary to the clearly stated terms of the free trial offer. I have therefore filed a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee to exercise my legal rights, and the process is ongoing.

I request that the Apple App Store cancel the $20 charge dated September 19, 2026, promptly refund the full amount to the bank associated with my payment card, and correct this improper charge on my account.
