Wizz Air Charged an Unexpected Airport Check-In Fee
I flew with Wizz Air from Sarajevo International Airport to Rome, Italy on 15 September 2026. When we arrived at the airport and went to the check-in counter, we were informed that we had to pay a penalty fee of 90 BAM (approximately 45 Euro) per person because we had not completed online check-in. The booking reference was 1159-951-424. We had not completed online check-in because we did not see any email or clear notification about this requirement, and in all our previous travel experience we had never encountered such a penalty for airport check-in. The situation at the counter was very unpleasant; we were told we had to pay in order to be allowed to travel, so we were effectively forced to pay the total amount in cash just so we could take our flight. I find this practice unfair and feel that it is more like a way to penalize passengers and collect extra fees than to properly inform them about check-in conditions. I am requesting that the total airport check-in penalty of 90 BAM (approximately 45 Euro) per person collected from our booking be refunded and that Wizz Air review this practice so that passengers are clearly informed and not surprised by such charges at the airport.
