Missing €3016 Transfer from Germany to Ziraat Bankası Due to Incomplete IBAN - No Refund Yet
On 04.07.2024, I sent €3016 from Germany to my foreign currency account at Ziraat Bankası in Turkey via Wise. However, the IBAN provided on the receipt from Wise was missing the last six digits of Ziraat Bankası’s IBAN. My funds have not reached my account since then. Normally, if the recipient’s IBAN is incomplete, shouldn’t the funds be automatically refunded? I’ve contacted Wise multiple times, as well as Ziraat Bankası customer service. They forwarded my contact information to a Turkish-speaking Wise representative who promised to look into the matter, mentioning it might take some time, but still, no refund has been issued. Wise insists they transferred the money to the recipient bank, but where could Ziraat Bankası be holding funds linked to an incomplete IBAN?
While I was in Turkey, Ziraat Bankası informed me that they have a collection center for such cases and that funds are refunded after an investigation. Yet, despite multiple inquiries, Ziraat Bankası continues to claim that the funds never arrived. Where is my money, and why hasn’t it been refunded? Ziraat Bankası and Wise, I need answers and my funds back immediately!
