Toyota Service Demands Excessive ABS Diagnosis Fee
On 5.08.2026, I took my 1998 model vehicle to the Toyota authorized service in Kahramanmaraş because the ABS warning light was on and the ABS system was deactivated. I was told that I had to leave the car at the service for a week just for fault detection and that I had to pay ₺25,000 only for the diagnosis. Considering the age of the vehicle and its market value of around ₺350,000–400,000, I find this amount extremely excessive and unacceptable. This approach, which gives the impression that a similarly inflated diagnosis fee would be requested if the vehicle’s value were higher, made me very uncomfortable, so I left the service without having any work done under these conditions. In an authorized service of a corporate brand like Toyota, I would expect a reasonable fault detection process to be offered first, the fault to be identified free of charge, and then a clear repair price to be given, with the work carried out only upon the customer’s approval. As is the case with some other brands, I would like this customer satisfaction–oriented approach to be implemented in Toyota services as well. For this reason, I am complaining about the ₺25,000 diagnosis fee requested from me and this pricing practice, and I request both an apology and a corporate explanation accompanied by a fair, reasonable pricing policy that will not victimize customers.
On August 25, 2026, I took my car to the authorized Toyota service center in Kahramanmaraş because the ABS warning light was on. I was told I would have to wait a week for a diagnosis and that I needed to pay 25,000 TL. I considered this amount excessive and unacceptable, so I left the service center. To date, the brand has not contacted me, and there has been no further development.
