I've been using Tinder for a while now, but I'm constantly frustrated by its automatic distance expansion feature. I set my maximum distance to 40 km (25 miles) in the settings. However, after I've viewed five or ten profiles, I get a notification that says, "Extend your km a little bit."
When I check the settings again, I see that the distance has been automatically increased to 160 km (100 miles). This is incredibly annoying and misleading. If there are no potential matches near me, then using this app is a waste of money. I'm convinced that Tinder does this to inflate the number of active users and make it seem like there are more people using the app than there actually are. They're basically creating fake profiles or adding people from far away just to trick users into thinking they have more options.
It's a total scam, and I'm tired of it. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid Tinder and instead look for potential partners on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or Twitter. You'll have much better luck finding someone you connect with on those platforms.
Tinder is nothing more than a money-grabbing scheme. I'm so glad I only bought a one-week subscription. I canceled it immediately and will never use this app again. I'd rather spend that money on cat food than give it to Tinder.
