Tesla Model Y GPS Not Matching Google Maps Routes
On December 27, 2025, during a trip to Istanbul with my Tesla Model Y, I used the built-in Tesla navigation system and noticed that it directed me to longer and alternative routes instead of the highway. At the same time, I checked the route on Google Maps and saw that Tesla’s navigation repeatedly guided me onto unnecessary roads, extending my trip by approximately 30 km (about 19 miles).
In a technologically advanced vehicle like Tesla, I would expect the navigation system to work at least in alignment with Google Maps and suggest similar, logical routes. I kindly request that the navigation routing algorithm be reviewed and updated to provide more optimal routes that are better aligned with widely used mapping systems. I ask that this feedback be taken into consideration to prevent similar issues in the future.
