My Skoda Fabia’s Steering Wheel Surface Is Peeling Despite Careful Use

My Skoda Fabia, which I purchased brand new approximately eight months ago and which currently has only 13,000 kilometers on it, has developed serious peeling and surface deformation on the steering wheel. No chemical products, abrasive cleaners, or harmful materials have ever been used during the cleaning of the vehicle’s interior. On the contrary, the vehicle has been carefully maintained and protected since the day I purchased it.

When I applied to the authorized service center regarding this issue, my request was rejected with a simple claim of “user error,” without any proper technical inspection, material analysis, or detailed examination being carried out. Even more concerning, this decision was communicated to me only verbally. Despite specifically requesting it, I was not provided with any written technical report explaining the reasons for the rejection.

The fact that Skoda refuses to stand behind such a material defect in a vehicle that has not even completed its first year and is still fully under warranty has seriously damaged my trust in the brand. A steering wheel peeling and deteriorating in a vehicle with only 13,000 kilometers is completely inconsistent with normal expectations and contradicts the quality standards that Skoda claims to offer.

My expectation from Skoda Türkiye is that the company take responsibility for this defective product, properly address my grievance, and replace the steering wheel free of charge under the warranty coverage.

Otherwise, in order to protect my consumer rights, I will pursue all available legal remedies, including filing an application with the Consumer Arbitration Committee, and I would also like to state that I have already escalated this matter to Skoda Global.
