Chronic Panel Failure Problem With Samsung TV

I purchased my Samsung UE55BU8500UXTK television in December 2022. Shortly after the warranty period expired, the screen began to dim progressively, and within a short time, the device went completely dark and became unusable. In December 2025, I contacted the authorized service in Konak, İzmir, due to this problem. The technical team examined the television on-site and diagnosed an open-cell / panel defect that required panel replacement. They stated that the repair fee would start from 16,500 TL and could go up to 22,000 TL, and additionally charged me a 1,000 TL diagnostic fee. During their examination, the technicians clearly confirmed that there was no liquid contact, no electrical surge, and no physical impact on the device, yet I was informed that the only option was a paid repair because the warranty had expired. I do not find it acceptable that a television from a brand like Samsung becomes unusable in just about two years, and that I am faced with such a high repair cost. The legal “useful life” determined by the Ministry of Trade for such products is 10 years, and even entry-level brands can meet this period, whereas this product has become inoperable in a very short time. For this reason, I consider this situation not as normal wear and tear, but as a latent manufacturing defect. My research shows that many consumers have reported the same panel fault with this model as a chronic and systemic problem. If I had been aware of this recurring defect, I would not have chosen this product. Moreover, there are documented cases of other users experiencing the same post-warranty failure who have had their televisions repaired free of charge, which supports that this is a production-related defect rather than user-induced damage. Regarding Service Order No. 4291139438, I do not accept the demand for a paid panel replacement and the 1,000 TL diagnostic fee for a fault that has been confirmed by your own technicians as not caused by user error. As a good-faith consumer, I request that this chronic malfunction be recognized as a latent defect, that my television be repaired free of charge or replaced with an equivalent new product, and that the service fee already collected be fully refunded so that my trust in your brand can be maintained.
