Remitly Refuses Refund After Sending Money to Wrong Debit Card

May 5 1:02 AM47

On March 30, 2026, I made an international money transfer through Remitly from my bank card to a Philippine debit card for a total of 760 US dollars. The transfer was processed under the transaction reference R34185292127. Although I intended to send the money to a Mastercard debit card, the funds instead went to a VISA card, and the transfer is showing as successful. I contacted Remitly customer support to request help, but I was told that because this was a “push” transaction using a good-funds model, it is considered irrevocable and cannot be reversed, even though this was a clerical error with the card details. I was informed that they cannot recall or reverse the funds and that a refund is not permitted. I find it unacceptable that such an important transaction cannot be corrected or reversed despite the obvious mistake in the card type and the fact that the transfer did not go to the intended Mastercard. I am requesting a full refund of the 760 US dollars for transaction R34185292127 or, alternatively, that Remitly take all necessary steps with the receiving institution so that I am not left bearing the entire loss for this error.
