If PIA VPN keeps disconnecting and you want to fix constant drops;
Check basic connection first;
• Test internet without VPN
• Restart modem/router
• Switch from Wi-Fi to wired (if possible)
Change VPN server;
• Open PIA → Choose a different server
• Try a nearby location first
• Avoid overloaded or distant servers
Switch VPN protocol;
• Settings → Protocol
• Try:
– WireGuard (usually more stable)
– OpenVPN UDP
– OpenVPN TCP (more stable, slower)
• Test each for 5–10 minutes
Enable connection stability features;
• Turn on “Auto-connect”
• Enable “Kill Switch” (prevents leaks)
• Enable “Small packets” if available
Check firewall/antivirus;
• Temporarily disable firewall/AV
• Add PIA as an exception
• Make sure router isn’t blocking VPN traffic
Update or reinstall PIA;
• Check for latest version
• Fully uninstall → Restart device → Reinstall
Adjust router settings (if needed);
• Disable VPN passthrough restrictions
• Restart router firmware
• Change DNS to automatic or 1.1.1.1
